It’s August and the weather is hot where I am! Too hot! So let’s talk about art for a few minutes in air-conditioned comfort.

In this update:

  • Come to my art show in Invermere!

  • My (wet) July art show in Celista, B.C.

  • New birds for my flock

So exciting I had to appear twice! My art show in Invermere is all set up and ready for you to visit!

Come to my art show in Invermere!

As I mentioned in my last update, I’m taking part in a month-long art show with Columbia Valley Arts at the Pynelogs Gallery in Invermere, B.C. I have nearly 40 paintings in the show from my Wild Essence and Little Birds series.

More than just displaying paintings, I’m also performing as part of the show on August 1 and 2. On those dates I’ll be doing painting demonstrations in a temporary studio set up right in the gallery. People can watch me paint, ask questions, and learn how I create some of my paintings. To say I’m nervous is an understatement! I’ve never done anything like this before, but I’m looking forward to it!

If you’re in the Invermere area, please drop by for the show opening reception on August 2 from 2-5 p.m. I’d love to see you there!

That's me at Celista Estate Winery, right after a rainstorm that stopped the minute I finished setting up!

Speaking of art shows, in mid-July I took part in the North Shuswap Fine Art Show at the Celista Estate Winery. And because it was an outdoor show, it poured rain the whole time I was setting up my booth! The weather improved a little after that, but the rain returned just in time for me to pack up. Mother Nature sure has a funny sense of humour!

Despite the weather, I met a lot of nice people, some of whom took home members of my Little Birds flock. Thank you to my new collectors!

New birds for my flock

With so many members of my Little Birds flock flying the coop (so to speak), I’ve been busy over the last few weeks painting new feathered friends. You can see some of them in the image above.

The neat thing about my new little birds is that I have seen (and spoken to) all of them beside Timid Turtle Pond, where I love to paint during the summer. What do you think, should I start a new Birds of the Pond series?

Believe it or not, some of my new little birds have already sold! Those that are left, along with prints of all my little birds, are available on my website at www.dianaskelhorne.com.

Thank you for reading my update newsletter! Get in touch if you have questions, feedback or want to talk.
