Have you ever wanted to paint a wild animal and truly bring its wild spirit to the page? Now you can!

In this two-day workshop we’ll tackle one of my favourite subjects: the bull moose. I’ll work with you to help you let loose with your brushstrokes and infuse your painting with raw, expressive energy!

We’ll begin by laying down a background colour on our canvases, then sketching and blocking the image of the moose. We’ll follow that up by creating several layers, mark-making and using inks, various mediums and glosses. We’ll use acrylic paint, oil paint, collage/stencils and glaze with transparent paint. Each layer will make your painting richer, deeper and more expressive.

I’ll also share techniques for adding opaque oil paint for highlights and fine details to really bring your painting to life — almost like it’s coming off the canvas.

By the end of the weekend you’ll have more than just a painting — you’ll have a wild, expressive image you can display with pride!
